Artist in the Making

For certain days, make that weeks, I've wanted Babe to paint some pictures for his birthday Thank You cards.
I realize his birthday was weeks ago, but none-the-less, I still want to thank everyone for coming over and sending their love.

He really seemed to know what he was doing and enjoyed using the paintbrush verses his hands.

After about 15 minutes he was done and created four wonderful works, that I will create his cards from. Check a mailbox near you!

Date Night

The Man took ME to dinner and a walk in the park Saturday night for Mothers Day. And I have to say, it was really nice. Dinner was at a cool little Mexican place downtown and then this cool park that we had never visited before.
The weather was perfect and we really enjoyed the quite and peace of strolling with no one to keep out of the water.

As we walked along the rock wall, I was struck with awe at our shadows. I was even happier when the Man agreed to stop and let ME take some artsy pictures. Right now this is my Photo Of 2011. I love it and it will likely find its way to a frame and on the wall.

The Man - I love you!

The Man got the camera and snapped several photos of ME walking. Not crazy about my figure, but I do love this dress.

One last shot of ME. We would leave this park for another that had swing sets. I like to swing and its been a very long, long time since I got to do any.

On Sunday, the Man took all the boys to the aquarium and I got to go scrapbooking. Ah, it was nice!

Thanks Hun for another great Mothers Day!

Sleepover

Friday night was a momentous occasion!
Buddy had his very first ever, of all time, an all night guest. Yep, he had a sleepover. Zkid came over and they had a blast. They drew pictures and created art, built legos, played outside and finally about 8, we pushed the couches together as a bed and they settled in for movies.
I'm not sure how many they watched, because I went to bed and left them up.
The next morning I tried to get a picture all the boys.

Its hard to get four sugar-filled (I got donuts for breakfast) boys to pile up for a good picture.

Plus the lighting was bad. and Babe was being funny.

Got two faces in this one. trying again.

Got it! Happy Sleepover Buddy. We love you Zkid! It was fun.

Happy National Scrapbooking Day!

1 - Yes, there is a day - holiday - dedicated to Scrapbooking!
2 - I wish had a dozen new layouts to post, but I don't.
3 - I wish I had big plans to scrapbook all day today, but we have two baseball games.
4 - I do have some plans to go to a new scrapbook store tomorrow, as my Mom's day present to myself. Don't know what I'll do, but I'll be there by myself, so I might just sit and absorb.
5 - I have a bizillion ideas for pages.
6 - Babe is 1 and he has no pages. Not one single page.
7 - I've made lots of notes, took lots of pictures, have lots blogged, so when he goes to college, I can scrap them.
8 - All of my scrap supplies are scattered - literally, around the house from all the painting we did a couple weeks ago.
9- I subscribe to two scrap magazines and love, love, love them.
10 - I still love all things scrapbooking, even if I don't get to do it.

Happy National Scrapbooking Day!

2nd Grade Baseball

So yesterday after school, the kids wanted to play on the playground and I mentioned that Buddy should probably go home and prepare for his game tonight. He reply, "I thought too much about the last game and only hit it to the pitcher's mound. I'm not thinking anything about tonight's game."
So true, last game Grandpa and Nana were watching and he tried "too" hard to get a homerun that he had trouble making contact with the ball.
Tonight, he was just gonna have fun and see what happen.

I don't have any good pics of him at bat because of where I was sitting. I'll try to get some next game.
Tonight he was last in the line up, The Man/Couch decided to switch things up. His first at bat didn't come until the 2nd inning. First batter gets on base, 2nd strikes out, 3rd batter pop-fly for an out, 4th batter on base, 5th batter on base. Now Buddy gets up with a runner at 1st and 3rd and 2 outs.
One pitch, two pitches, third pitch his smacks it to left field and it goes bouncing out into the field. He rounds third for home and easily makes it in for at homeroom.

I love this pic, because he pretends to be looking in the dugout but is really watching the guy on 2nd.
His 2nd at bat, he manages to get to the plate with one out and bases loaded. No pressure. And he smacks the ball again this time in center field and hustles around the bases for a GRAND SLAM! This ties us 10 -10 as we go into the fourth. I'm nervous.

His third at bat comes in the 5th inning. We are leading by four, if we can score three more runs, we've got them and the game is over (6 run limit per inning).
1st batter gets on base. Buddy gets up and hits a good hit to left field but it gets stopped before bouncing into the outfield, he gets on base. 3rd batter gets on base, and the 4th batter bats him home. We score 3 runs and win the game 19- 12. It was a close one and a good one. Whew!
2nd grade baseball is fun!

Attention - Art World

Every year Buddy creates a sculpture in his art class and last Friday his third work in the series came home carefully wrapped in paper.
First let ME say that I love the fact that he has art once/twice a week. Second he is crafty and I love all the things he makes and brings home. Third, I love his sculptures - they are simply amazing to ME.

Let ME present his kindergarten creation

The Scarecrow
A very careful sculpted top half of a scarecrow. Complete with a face, wonderfully large hat and curly arms. Very imaginative.

Let ME present his 1st Grade creation.

The Leopard
A very detailed scaled down sculpture of one amazing cat. He very painstakingly created a fur-like texture all over his body to make him appear more life like.

Now I present his 2nd grade creation.

The Football Player
He created a man of mis-portion but gave him life-like features of a face and hair. He wears the number 10 and even carries a football (picture below) complete with laces.

He was not as happy this year with his work as in years past but he has a lot more on his mind these days.
Nonetheless, I love them all as any art lover would. And look forward to many more sculptures and masterpieces.

What do you think?
