Do you know your Herbs?

Still not feeling great these days, I'm afraid I'm going to have to go to the doctor again. ugh! Today, I tried to get Buddy interested in his Summer Reading List. Right now he's at #24. Not bad, but I was really hoping we could read alot more this summer. I checked out these books from the library and he read one. He doesn't like sounding out his words and would rather guess what the word it based on the pictures. And I'll admit, I'm not a great reading teacher, because I'm not a great reader myself.

Although I have seen some improvement through out the summer hopefully we will get to 50 books before summer's over but who knows.
And here's a story. ....... You see the Man also has a little container herb garden included in garden. There's rosemary, sage, thyme, basil, and some other's I can't remember (and they are not labeled).

Anyhow, last night I had thawed some chicken and emailed the Man asking him how he wanted it cooked. He replies, to go to the garden and get some of every herb and mince them so there's about a teaspoon of each. Mix them with about 2 tablespoons of olive oil and marinate chicken strips in this before sauteing. So out I go with scissors. The left round pot has one herb, then the back round one has one, the front round tub has two, but one's a repeat, so I just get the lefty one, then the box pot, I get two different herbs. 5 total.

I did exactly as the Man said and the chicken was delicious. Later that night, I decided to use the left over chicken to make him chicken salad for tomorrow's lunch. He tells M.E. to add more herbs. So I go to the garden again and come in with the 5 herbs as before and that's when he informs M.E. that in that front round pot, the lefty plant, is not an herb.... Its just something that started growing in the pot, a weed or a tree seedling or something.

WHAT???? I just fed that to my family. The Man of course thought this was hilarious. But do you know what each fresh herb actually looks like? Some of you probably do, but M.E. no idea. Remember I don't care for cooking. So I waited for one of us to start throwing up, but we seemed to weather the weed/tree seedling just fine. Crazy.
