Big Day for Buddy!

It's 37 degrees this morning! 37! You will see why this is so significant in a minute.
First we get ready and head out to the football field for Buddy's third flag football game. Here they are at the pre-game pep talk and blocking practice.
Check out this pic of Buddy just missing the kids flags. Even the kid with the ball thought Buddy had him. Buddy gets the ball and scores.
We win the game 22 - 6. Buddy scoring 14 points (2 TDs and a 2-pt conversion). Awesome!
Immediately after this victory, the Buddy and I load up for his long awaited Cub Scout Mom 'n Me Camp Out. Now you know why the 37 degrees this morning was significant. I willing and knowing am about to go camping with the over night low dipping down into the upper 30s. I'm crazy.
Here's Buddy and a friend at sign-in at the cub scout camp, which about an hour away from our house. We head to our campsite with some of the other kiddos and Moms to set up. Now here's the story. We were given the option when we signed-up if we wanted a tent provided at the cub scout camp or take our own. Not wanting to spend the money and knowing we have a good tent, I choose to take our own tent. With that said, I had no idea that it was going to be 30 degrees. So with many of the moms opting out of the camp out at the last minute, I took the liberty to use an empty camp tent provided as a shelter for my tent.
With our tent in a tent, I am really hoping that the wind and cold temps forecasted for tonight will be lessened. We missed a lot of the morning activities due to the football game, but we still had a whole afternoon planned. First stop the craft pavilion, where he colors a plane and helicopter.
Next, we go back to camp where the boys play some monkey-in-the-middle football and climb the firetower/castle for nearly 2 hours. Before we had supper the boys witnesses and participated in the flag ceremony and prayer. I was really happy there was prayer before supper.
Supper couldn't have come soon enough as I was starving at this point and chilly. I must say, I was really nervous. Many of you know - I'm a PICKY eater. But luckily we had chicken strips with mashed potatoes and rolls. The chicken strips were real nice chicken breast fillets which were delicious, but we only got about 2 tablespoons of potatoes, so it didn't quite fulfill the Buddy. So quickly back to camp for a fire, which I was put in charge of building, because of all the moms there, I was the one with the most camping experience and who still camps regularly, so check out my fire and the boys roasting marshmallows for their........ S'MORES! Here's Buddy with his barely-warm marshmallow version of a s'more.

At this point, the sun has set and the wind is just starting to stir. Its getting chilly.

After s'mores and some playing with glow sticks, when headed up to the main camp bon fire for some camp songs and skits. Do you think Buddy's cold? After the bon fire, there was some fireworks and then we quickly trek back to our tent. Oh, I'm so hoping by a miracle its warm in there. But Buddy is starving. So I dig out a chicken sandwich I picked up for him after his football game, but was too busy to eat in the van or once we got to camp. So here we are getting settled in for the night and Buddy with his cheeks full of a bedtime snack.

The tents not warm but the wind is not getting in. that's a big plus.
