Beauty Shop
Yesterday was the day, haircut day! The boys hair seems to grow so fast and I dread going to the shop because one of the big boys always seems to argue about getting in the chair and whose going first and then chasing Babe around the place for a half hour saying NO every 3 seconds is no fun for ME.
However today wasn't too bad. LG was glad to go first.
He loves getting his hair washed by Dana. He feels like such a big boy.
He went first so Buddy could do homework.
Nothing like 3rd grade homework we are all still trying to adjust to the work load. Note the before hair.
LG was more than happy with his short do and got to play his DS. He'd been grounded from it for three days.
When Buddy got in the chair he said, "make it really short". I'm like what? He loves his cool long hair. He later says I don't like coming here so if its short it'll be a longer time before I have to get it cut again. Always the logical one! Dana did take it short but had to leave some bangs. Buddy had three cowlicks in front so going short, short wasn't an option! Thank Goodness!
Makes him look so different!

Soccer
Game 3 of the Soccer season today and LG had a great game.
He has so much fun running and being goofy.
He's not very aggressive but gets into it.
Loves his friends.
Half time pep talk in the goal. We were tied 2 - 2.
Late in the game they scored one more time, beating us 3 - 4.
Post game donut and walk to the van. I really like early morning games, because it gives us the rest of the day to do other stuff - like laundry and cartoon watching.

Bubba's Hat
Babe found Buddy's hat in this room and decided he was going to wear it all day.
He wore it for a really long time.
Now he's curious about the camera.
How cute it he? Are you kidding M.E.?
Time to move on.

The Man's Birthday!!!
Yesterday, we celebrated the Man's birthday by getting up early and heading to LG's soccer game.
Buddy and I cheering him on. Photo courtesy of Brandi. I remembered my camera but not the memory card. Ugh.
Then Brandi and I went to a craft fair, then LG had a bowling party to attend, which was lots of fun.
Back home we got ready to go to the show...
The Fleet Foxes that is!!!
Buddy was planning on celebrating at the show with us, but got a last minute invite to the TU vs OSU game. Of course he chose college football, but unfortunately a huge line of storms rolled thru and the game was delayed until 1AM. Yep, 1 o'clock in the morning. Needless to say Buddy and his friend went home well before the kickoff but they had lots of fun at the field.
Meanwhile...
The show was so amazing I loved, loved every minute. I think the Man did too!!!
Happy Birthday Hun, I love you!

More Soccer Photos
Here's some pics I took with the big camera. LG really had a good time, although I think he lost interest about half way through and picked his nose. A Lot!
He's really concentrating here.
Half Time!
He had just thrown the ball back in and was cheering for his friends!
He and this other player would be on the ground many times throughout the game.
As he was running toward M.E. I didn't have time to zoom out, but I still like this photo.
Happy Monday!

Reflecting
Just wanted to share a few thoughts about this past week - which was one of the best weeks every.
Last week the Man was in town at his office so the morning routine was back to normal and it was nice having him home every afternoon.
Last week the boys had not one after school activity or evening function which made for slow paced evenings.
Last week Buddy read aloud for his reading homework an entire Magic Tree House Book. Loved hearing him read.
Last week LG got three out of four stickers for the weekly report. A first for him.
Last week the weather was wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.
Last week, LG's teacher had to bury her 5 month old son, the Man went to the funeral and it made us all stop and be extra grateful for one another.
Last week, I scrapbooked and made art.
And perhaps one of the biggest things that made the week the best; the 'clicker' aka the cable remote control broke and all tv channels had to be scrolled through manually at the cable box. This basically equaled NO T.V. and it was so refreshing.
And today we all remember all those children who lost their parents in 9-11 and all those parents who lost their children in 9-11.

NFL Fever
well, the fever is in full swing at our house with tonight being the opening night for the NFL regular season 2011. The Man announced last night, that he had yet another Fantasy Football Draft - number 5. Yes, #5. He has the the WA league, the family league, the KY league, the local league and now finally a work league. But its this latter, the work league that he has decided to let Buddy manage. And to say that Buddy was on cloud 9 about this would be an understatement. He has wanted his own fantasy team for some time now and he was so excited to stay up late and do his draft. He asked every few minutes if it was time and wound up doing extra homework (reading aloud) to stay up late.
He amazed M.E. at his knowledge of players. I had no idea he knew that many players, their teams and how good they were and they would make good picks.
LG even knew a few of the team names - especially the Seahawks from their icons.

On more than one occasion the player Buddy wanted was drafted before their turn and it made him mad. It was pretty funny. He loved every second of picking his team and the Man couldn't be prouder.
I can already tell this is going to be a special season for him and one he remembers for a long time.
Pretty special moment right here!

Baby Potter
Again thank you to those of you who may have remembered Mrs. Potter (LG's teacher) and her baby, in your prayers.
It is with a heavy heart that I write of his passing late yesterday afternoon.
"He is now with Jesus", Mrs. Potter said. Please remember her, Mr.Potter and their two other children as they try to put the pieces back together.

Little Girl Quilt
I finished this project at the end of summer but haven't posted yet.
Our little friend J needed a nap mat cover and pillow case for preschool this year, so I sewed her up one in an afternoon.
I then took the left over material, added a bit more scraps and made a quilt.
This side had 3" pieces and turned out alright.
This side was 6" pieces and turned out much better.
I was so glad to this and proud of myself too!
I sewed the fronts together then turned it out so I didn't have to do the binding. Still haven't got that to work yet.
And some of the non-cotton fabric wasn't fun to work with it -kept stretching and getting snagged. But I still think it's cute and little J loves it, so that's all that matters.

LG's Likes!!!
I have scrapped all day today trying to keep busy with out actually doing any work. I made 12 photoless layouts that I'm just thrilled with. LG decided he wanted to help, so we made a 'Happy' page for him.
I did this same thing with Buddy about this same time of kindergarten, so it's really nice to have started a tradition.
What makes him happy at age 5 is
Going to my Cousins House
Playing with my Friends
getting stickers at school
Waterparks
Airplane driver costume
DS
Baseball Trophy
Porkchops
Sharing
Rainbows
Love it!

Baby Potter update
Thank you to those who have remembered LG's teacher's baby. The doctors are saying that it was an interrupted SIDS and as of this morning he was in critical condition.
Mrs. Potter has requested everyone pray for a peaceful day for him and the family.
Please remember them. This is very difficult for them, our school & church and community.

Look what the Man done did!
The Man really utilized his time off this week to do some landscaping. And I love how it turned out. So proud of him.
He edged and filled in the area in front of the house with cool rocks. This area was just too awkward to grow grass, so this is a perfect solution.
It makes my azalea look pretty even without blooms and when the rains come in the spring. It'll be great.
Along the garage where Nana and Grandpa cleared out the dead shrubs this spring, he edged and filled it in with bricks and rock for our potted garden. Love this too!
We've got our mums, tomatoes, peppers, basil and other goodies out here.
And of course Babe's rose bush.. It has managed to weather a whole summer of over 100 degrees with much watering and some shade. It just keeps blooming. I'm grateful.
And I have to include Babe and his new hair-do!

Pray Request
LG's wonderful, wonderful kindergarten teacher Mrs. Potter's, infant son stopped breathing last night while napping. It was noticed immediately and he was rushed to the hospital.
His heart is beating on his own, but is still on a ventilator.
Please pray fro him and the family. They are truly wonderful people.

Babe's first haircut!
The time has come for Babe to look more like a little boy and cease getting called a girl.
Thankfully the Man is home this week and was able to take these photos.
He did really awesome! I was so proud of him. He was confused at first, but sat pretty still and let Dana do her thing. I can't get over how different he looks. My little Babe is growing up!
